Deadly Duos: Funfair

Dreadstone Books is now accepting submissions for Deadly Duosthe theme for this issue is Funfair.

Step right up and bring us your darkest tales from the fairground—twisted rides, carnivals of terror, sideshows, and the sinister shadows behind the bright lights.

​

What We Want

  • Theme: Funfair (carnivals, travelling fayres, amusement parks, and all adjacent topics)

  • Length: Somewhat flexible. Absolute maximum of 5,000 words (anything over 3,000 requires truly exceptional quality)

  • Payment: £0.01 per word, capped at 3,000 words—that's £30 max

  • Original work only. No AI, no reprints

What to Include:

  • ​Your story as .doc or .docx
    Do not paste into the body of the email

  • A short, third-person author bio

  • A link to your website or social media page

If no stories are selected the submission window may be extended until we find the right fit.

Decisions are expected to be made within one month of the closing date.

A note on submissions:

Submissions are to be published as eBooks. No need to double space your work, but do so if you like. 
DO NOT use the Tab key for paragraphs. We want nightmares from your content, not your formatting. 
Headers and footers are not needed. Please include your story title and byline at the beginning of the work, along with your email address (this will help us find your submission later).

Can you deliver terror in 500 words or less?

Dreadstone Books is now accepting submissions for Micro Horrors—tight little nightmares, razor-sharp and fast-burning.

What We Want

​

  • Word Count: 500 words maximum

  • Genre: Horror (any subgenre, including but not limited to, psychological, body horror, folk, cosmic, comedy, etc.)

  • No AI. Reprints may be accepted. Please state when and where the work was published in your submission email.

  • Format: For online only publication.

​

There is no payment for Micro Horrors at this time. Selected stories will be published on the Dreadstone Books website, with full credit and author links.

​

Submission is treated as agreement to publish. By submitting you are asserting that you own the rights to the story and that you are submitting with the intent of publication. Authors can withdraw their story at any time before or after publication. Dreadstone Books is under no obligation to publish submissions or to keep them available indefinitely.

​

  • A 1 to 2 sentence author bio

  • A link to your website or social media page
